July pictures

Look at this big smile! She loves pictures.

And look at this - checkers? It sure looks like she is engaged in quite the competitive game.

They had a program this week. Kaitlyn must have thought it was hilarious.

Playing dress up? Those aren't our clothes. But she loves it!

Aww! Out like a light. She doesn't sleep much at daycare. Too much going on, I guess.

And she has started eating all sorts of food. This was a chocolate covered banana. At least one of my children like chocolate!

Goldfish!

Hailey tried goldfish while we were out to eat with Grandma, Grandpa, Uncle Scott and Uncle Russell. She liked them!

A Little of This and a Little of That

Look at this block tower Kaitlyn built. I was impressed! It fell right after I snapped this picture.

This is the tower I was building that Kaitlyn took over.

Kaitlyn has been dancing a ton. Here she was getting dada to dance with her. Cuteness!

Last weekend we met Cousin Katherine at the Shops at La Canterra. We decided to check out the playground while we were there.

Hailey stayed in the shade. Here she was sporting her boo boo from when she face planted at daycare. Poor kiddo.

Kaitlyn got these noodles for the pool. She likes them but doesn't want to stay in the pool for more than 45 minutes or so. Not sure what that is about.

Here she is conked out in our bed one day this week. She's been sleeping late after coming in our room. Always with Hello Kitty!

Hailey loves her sister!

Summertime Illnesses

On Thursday the 20th we got a call from the daycare that Kaitlyn had a 102 fever. I was in Houston so grandpa picked her up and brought her to their house. Poor kiddo was not doing great. Wouldn't drink. After Eric picked her up and got some Advil in her, she drank and ate some too.

On Friday I decided to take her to the doctor. She definitely was in some pain - either ear or throat. Turns out she had Hand, Foot and Mouth disease. Sounds worse than it is but she definitely had sores in her mouth. The fever broke Friday morning. Then it was just a battle of keeping her hydrated and eating some. She got a few more sores around her mouth and one or two on her arms and legs. By Sunday she was anxious to get out and about. So Monday was back at school.

But on Sunday Hailey was sounding a bit gunky. I was worried that she sounded too much like she did when we landed in the hospital. So I took her to urgent care. Her pulse ox was good but they didn't like how her breathing sounded. And she had a double ear infection! They gave us a nebulizer to do breathing treatments at home. Poor kiddo.

On Wednesday I brought her to the pediatrician to follow up. While we were there she spiked a 103 fever. Turns out it was her turn for Hand, Foot and Mouth disease.  Oh joy. The fever was gone in 24 hours. She also wasn't interested in eating but we gave her Advil and encouraged her to drink her bottles. The pediatrician also increased the breathing treatments. We were to do Albuterol 4 times a day and Budesonide 2 times a day. That has been a bit tough. She doesn't like the treatments and fights quite a bit. We go back to the doctor tomorrow for her 9 month (well) visit. Hopefully she will be done with all of this!

Port Aransas - First Family Vacation

We went on our first (annual) family vacation this week to Port Aransas.  We had a blast! The kids were great and everything went pretty smoothly.  The first night we got there Kaitlyn and I went out on the lawn to listen to some live music (daddy was upstairs while Hailey was sleeping). Kaitlyn was right at home running around with the other kids. Mark McKinney was playing. Not bad!

Day 2 we hit the pool first. Other than the battle to put on sunscreen, Kaitlyn loved being in the water and got quite brave.

The beach was another story. Kaitlyn was a little timid. The first time we went out there she ran right to the water with the other kids (we ran into Scott and Teresa - small world).  But she didn't like the sand on her feet and swim shoes. So that was the end of her getting in the water.

Hailey was a champ. She caught hand foot and mouth the day before we left. But she was great. Took Advil for the first couple of days because she wasn't eating as much and seemed to have some mouth/throat pain. But she was super happy!

We rented a golf cart to scoot around the neighborhood. That was great! Kaitlyn loved going for rides.

This was the only way she would get in the water after that first time.

Hailey kept pulling the hat off so we gave up. Luckily we made it through the trip without any sunburns!

The mom of this little girl was kind enough to take our picture. Too bad Kaitlyn didn't cooperate. The kid was obsessed with the "baby".

Eric was able to get Kaitlyn to play in the sand some and they built some sandcastles.

Kaitlyn's hair blowing in the wind as we cruised the beach. This was probably right before Hello Kitty fell out. Luckily I was able to turn around and we found it!

This was Saturday night. Kaitlyn and I went for a ride on the beach. Since she was in her tennis shoes, she didn't mind walking in the sand. We were out there for a long time! And with Hello Kitty, who went EVERYWHERE with us.

On Sunday morning it stormed and stayed cloudy for the day. We tried to go swimming in the morning but it was too cold. We headed to town for lunch and then hung out on the beach in our clothes for awhile.

I was so diligent about putting sunscreen on her head that we couldn't get it to wash out! Spikey hair!

Daddy keeping both girls entertained.

Hailey also had to do breathing treatments the whole trip. Ugh. But what a cutie!

Can't wait until next year!
