You Can't Beat Days Like This!

We had a wonderful day with Kaitlyn. I took her to Landa Park in New Braunfels for a birthday party (Lyndsey's little girl Camryn turned 1!). Kaitlyn and I had a great time! She met lots of people and charmed them all. She was very happy and well behaved. We loved hanging out in the park - it was a gorgeous day.

At one point, I was holding her and I could tell that she was really tired. She was rubbing her eyes and rubbing her face on my shirt. So I went to put her in her stroller. I intended to put her down and then adjust her so she was in a good position. Well let me tell you - she was asleep practically before her head hit the stroller! Needless to say, I just left her in that position. Even though she was on a toy (at least it was a soft toy).

After the party, I stopped at Babies 'R Us to buy a jogging stroller. When I got there, she was asleep so I almost decided to skip the trip. But instead I pulled the stroller out and put her in it (still in her car seat). She stirred a little, but slept while I shopped. Getting the new stroller was challenging, to say the least. I was pushing her stroller and dragging the shopping cart. Luckily, there was a worker close by and he helped me to the car. I managed to get her back in the car and she went back to sleep.

When we got home, she even pet Big Kitty for the first time. At first Big Kitty was weary of her but once he realized she was going to pet him - he was all for it. Just wait until she pulls his hair or his tail!

Just Chilin on the Floor

Kaitlyn is enjoying hanging on the floor on her tummy. Here she is getting a crick in her neck trying to look up at her daddy:

These were taken in the middle of a feeding. She wasn't happy and didn't seem in the mood to eat, so I put her down. She was very intrigued by Big Kitty. She managed to scoot her way around. Considering she can't crawl, she is pretty mobil!

She was already dressed for bed in her "sleep sack." It was unzipped, so her legs were free. When she goes to sleep we zip her feet up in the bottom. She moves around too much to have a blanket, so this was a good compromise.

And here is why, Kaitlyn can't sleep with a blanket. I took this picture last weekend. She was laying on the floor on top of this blanket, but she grabbed the edge and started rolling. Before I knew it, she was covered! Before I freed her, I had to snap a picture because it was so funny! Now, if I wasn't sitting there watching - it would not have been so funny to come back and find her like this (hint, her head is at the top of her picture):

First Attempt at Eating

We tried giving Kaitlyn some rice cereal tonight. The way she was sucking through the milk this weekend, we thought it might be time. It went pretty well. She took the very first spoonful in her mouth and only spit out a little. She was a natural. I can't say that we ate very much, but all in all it was a pretty good experience.

Another tooth maybe?

Kaitlyn had a rough weekend - she was fussier than usual. But we did manage some good times a good pictures. I wonder if she is getting another tooth? I thought I saw something...

On Saturday, she hung out with me in her stroller while I was painting the patched ceiling. Later, when she was fussy and overdue for a nap, I took her for a walk. She fell asleep, so I managed to get a little yard work done. Here she was while I was painting - she was kicking her feet up! She loves to cross her feet!

This afternoon, she was laying on the ground and rolling over. She is getting pretty good at holding herself up while she is on her tummy. She has the crawling position down but the problem is, she either has her arms right or her legs right... but not at the same time! That's OK, I'm in no hurry to have her moving around!

She was cracking me up lifting her butt in the air!

And then when she gets tired, her face plants into the carpet. Not very comfy! And look at the sock - she is good at getting out of those.

First Road Trip, First 2 Teeth, First Easter, Oh My!

We left on Friday, embarking on Kaitlyn's first road trip. We went to Houston to visit Scott and Denise.

We hit the road when Kaitlyn wanted to leave, which was right after her 11 am feeding. We had the car packed to the brim with all we thought we would need (I did a pretty good job packing but wished I would have packed the Tylenol and the nail clippers... more on the Tylenol later). I, of course, forgot my shampoo. We got a slow start because there was an accident on 1604 but we stopped for some Whataburger (to go) and finally made it out of town.

Kaitlyn was a doll - super happy. She fell asleep after awhile. I needed a potty break so we stopped at a rest stop, more than half way to Houston. As soon as we pulled in, her eyes popped open. We hoped she would go back to sleep, so we took turns taking our potty breaks and got back on the highway. She had other plans, so 15 minutes down the road we had to pull off on an exit and change her diaper. There wasn't anywhere to stop, so Eric picked a gravel area off of the feeder road. Unconventional, but it worked! We fed her and then she was happy again.

We went to dinner that night at the Cheesecake Factory and Denise noticed that it looked like Kaitlyn had a tooth. So I washed my hands and stuck my finger in there to check it out. I let out a squeal when I felt it!

Saturday we had lunch at Willies with the Gang - Clint and Noreen + their 4 kids, Claudia + her nephew, and Carolina and Bryan + their 2 kids. Kaitlyn was a trooper. We stayed there at least 3 hours and she was happy, took a nap, ate and proceeded to poop everywhere. And that was the one time that I didn't have a change of clothes on us! Carolina was a lifesaver and gave us a clean shirt that her boys had outgrown. It was actually a neon green swim shirt. Kaitlyn looked so cute!

That night, Kaitlyn was overtired (she had a long day!) and her teeth were obviously bothering her. She cried and cried and cried. We each took turns walking her and trying to soothe her. We tried the swing. Finally, we went and bought her some Infant Tylenol. Finally, Uncle Scott (or was it Grandma? I dunno - it's a blur to me) was able to calm her down and she fell asleep. Poor thing was out and didn't budge until 8:30 the next morning. We noticed at that point that her 2nd tooth was in too!

Easter Sunday, she woke up happy. And that lasted for a little while, but then she started to get fussy again. After a lengthy, crying-fest, she finally fell asleep. Poor thing! We were able to get her into a cute dress and take some pictures. Then she fell asleep again, just in time for us to eat our Easter Brunch (thank you for the great timing!).

The car ride home went mostly well. She slept but then woke up a little fussy. She seemed content to suck and chew (or should I say BITE, ouch!) on my finger. But then would get a little vocal. We were certainly glad when we pulled into our driveway!

It was a great weekend - too bad Kaitlyn had a rough time! Here is a picture of her posing on Easter with her daddy:

Here's her with the bunny that the Easter Bunny brought her:

First Road Trip

Tomorrow we are taking Kaitlyn on her first road trip. We are headed to Houston for Easter weekend. I'm excited! Stay tuned to see how it goes.
