Jumperoo

Kaitlyn got a new Jumper (thanks Rachel). We tried it out this weekend and she loved it:

There was just one problem.... her feet can't reach the ground! I think she isn't heavy enough to weigh it down, but I suppose she could be too short.

First time she rolled over

Kaitlyn rolled over from her back to her tummy this morning!

She has really been working on that skill, but just hadn't managed to quite get all the way over. Well, this morning she was in her crib. I was still in bed but heard her making some noises so went to look at the monitor. She wasn't crying but I figured she was up.

I walked out of the bedroom and into the room Eric was in just as I looked down into the monitor. I let out a loud gasp and went running, calling out "she's on her stomach!"

And there she was:

Some pics to share

I took some pictures this weekend, so thought that I would share some of the cutest ones. Here she is sitting in her swing and eating her flower. She loves to eat everything these days.

She still hasn't rolled over yet, but here she is giving it the ole college try! She was so close. She had her right arm down by her side but still couldn't quite make it over. For some reason she was reaching over her head for the pillow. Maybe I should move that to her side...

She starting doing this weird thing with her mouth. It doesn't make any noise but she purses her lips together and swallows. Here she is showing you:

This one needs no explanation. It is just her showing off her good looks:

Tummy time - she was multitasking and chewing on her finger while she was on her tummy. She just can't resist putting her fingers in her mouth.

I was trying to take pictures of us together. And in spite of my cheesy grin, I couldn't resist posting this one since she was looking at me:

11 Hours of Sleep

Kaitlyn had a long night of sleep last night! She went to bed around 9:30 and slept until 8:30. And we didn't need to use the swing to help her get to sleep. She went to sleep all on her own in her crib.

The only downside was that when I got up to pump at 3 in the morning, I left the milk out thinking that she would eat within the next 4 hours. But I was wrong, so I had to pour the milk out :(

Oh well, we can't win them all!

First Fever

Kaitlyn had her first fever last night. She was fussy when I got home from work. Eric had her in the swing, trying to calm her down after he fed her. She just wasn't happy. I picked her up to try and see if that worked, and noticed that her head felt warm. So we pulled out the thermometer. We have a temporal thermometer that you rub across the forehead. We have not perfected the use, so I tried first and got 100.0. Eric did it and came up with 101.2.

So we pulled out the Tylenol for the first time. The pediatrician had given us the correct dosage for her age and we figured that since she had gotten shots on Monday, that was likely the cause. We decided to wait and see how she was an hour after the Tylenol and then potentially call the doctor.

She fell asleep soon after taking the Tylenol (thank goodness). She slept for about and hour, so when she woke up Eric took her temperature. The fever was down, so that was good. It is still down now (I'm pumping at 2:45 am after her middle of the night feeding). Cross your fingers!

Favorite Sleeping Position

Kaitlyn loves sleeping on her side. Here is what she looked like when I went to get her up this morning. Keep in mind that when I put her to bed, she was turned 180 degrees in the other direction. That girl sure can scoot around in her bed!

4 Month Check-up and Shots

Kaitlyn had an appointment with her pediatrician today. Here are her stats:
11 lbs 14 oz (she gained 2 lbs 10 ozs since her last visit 2 months ago)
24 1/2 inches long (she grew 2 1/2 inches since last time)
head 24.3 cm (grew 3 cm!)

The doctor was very pleased with her weight gain and overall health. In fact she was so pleased that she wanted us to discontinue the pepcid, but I convinced her to let us keep going. While Kaitlyn's vomiting has decreased dramatically, she still shows signs of discomfort after some feedings.

She told us what to look for as signs of when to start feeding her rice cereal. Man, they grow up so quickly. I can't believe we are getting close to solids! I'm going to hold out as long as she'll let me :)

She got 1 vaccine orally and 3 shots! Poor girl. As would be expected, she wailed! But we were able to calm her down relatively quickly.

Bumbo Seat

Brandy was kind enough to pass Kaitlyn a Bumbo seat. We tried it out today and she seems to like it!

Kaitlyn's Favorite Things - 4 months old

Her are some pictures of Kaitlyn doing her favorite things:

She loves grabbing things and holding on tight. Here she is sitting in her seat trying to reach out and grab the lamb. It was just a little to far for her to get a good grip on it.

She loves kicking out of her blankets. Here is a picture of her after she managed to get her feet loose. Doesn't she know that the point of the blanket is to keep her little tootsies warm? Oh and this also captures another favorite - watching TV. Much to my dismay, she is completely mesmerized by the TV. That probably means mom and dad shouldn't watch it when she is around...

Toe touches! Kaitlyn loves lifting her legs up in the air - man, the flexibility! Pretty soon she'll be sucking on her feet.

That brings me to her next favorite - sucking on things. She loves to suck on her finger, her fist, the blanket - anything she can get her hands on!

16 Weeks

Man, Kaitlyn is growing up fast! Where has the time gone? I have been back at work 6 weeks now and feel like I am missing so much. I was really busy for awhile, so there was a long stretch of time where I was hardly getting to see her. I could maybe see her for a few minutes when I got home before she went to bed. But most nights, I would peek at her on the monitor and then get to see her during the middle of the night feeding. I knew I was working too much when I was actually disappointed because she slept all night and I didn't get to see her! Here's a picture that Eric took one weekend while I was at work. He sent it to me and it was all I could do to stay at work and not run home to be with them!
She definitely has her good days and her bad days. Periodically she has her fussy periods where she is completely inconsolable. Those times are really tough and Eric and I take turns trying to hold, rock, feed her. Last night I put her in the car seat ready to take her for a ride (after an hour of us being unable to calm her down). By the time Eric got on his shoes, she was asleep.

Next Monday is her 4 month check-up. I'm curious to find out if she is on track with her weight gain. She still seems so little but is finally growing out of her 0 to 3 month clothes.
