We hit the road when Kaitlyn wanted to leave, which was right after her 11 am feeding. We had the car packed to the brim with all we thought we would need (I did a pretty good job packing but wished I would have packed the Tylenol and the nail clippers... more on the Tylenol later). I, of course, forgot my shampoo. We got a slow start because there was an accident on 1604 but we stopped for some Whataburger (to go) and finally made it out of town.
Kaitlyn was a doll - super happy. She fell asleep after awhile. I needed a potty break so we stopped at a rest stop, more than half way to Houston. As soon as we pulled in, her eyes popped open. We hoped she would go back to sleep, so we took turns taking our potty breaks and got back on the highway. She had other plans, so 15 minutes down the road we had to pull off on an exit and change her diaper. There wasn't anywhere to stop, so Eric picked a gravel area off of the feeder road. Unconventional, but it worked! We fed her and then she was happy again.
We went to dinner that night at the Cheesecake Factory and Denise noticed that it looked like Kaitlyn had a tooth. So I washed my hands and stuck my finger in there to check it out. I let out a squeal when I felt it!
Saturday we had lunch at Willies with the Gang - Clint and Noreen + their 4 kids, Claudia + her nephew, and Carolina and Bryan + their 2 kids. Kaitlyn was a trooper. We stayed there at least 3 hours and she was happy, took a nap, ate and proceeded to poop everywhere. And that was the one time that I didn't have a change of clothes on us! Carolina was a lifesaver and gave us a clean shirt that her boys had outgrown. It was actually a neon green swim shirt. Kaitlyn looked so cute!
That night, Kaitlyn was overtired (she had a long day!) and her teeth were obviously bothering her. She cried and cried and cried. We each took turns walking her and trying to soothe her. We tried the swing. Finally, we went and bought her some Infant Tylenol. Finally, Uncle Scott (or was it Grandma? I dunno - it's a blur to me) was able to calm her down and she fell asleep. Poor thing was out and didn't budge until 8:30 the next morning. We noticed at that point that her 2nd tooth was in too!
Easter Sunday, she woke up happy. And that lasted for a little while, but then she started to get fussy again. After a lengthy, crying-fest, she finally fell asleep. Poor thing! We were able to get her into a cute dress and take some pictures. Then she fell asleep again, just in time for us to eat our Easter Brunch (thank you for the great timing!).
The car ride home went mostly well. She slept but then woke up a little fussy. She seemed content to suck and chew (or should I say BITE, ouch!) on my finger. But then would get a little vocal. We were certainly glad when we pulled into our driveway!
It was a great weekend - too bad Kaitlyn had a rough time! Here is a picture of her posing on Easter with her daddy:
Here's her with the bunny that the Easter Bunny brought her:
And cuddling later with her Bunny:
