Painting continues

Unfortunately I've been working WAY too much lately, so I haven't been able to spend as much time as I would like painting. However, I painted a couple of hours on Wednesday and Friday night when I woke up at 3 in the morning and couldn't sleep. At least I was productive! I love how it is looking and based on the progress, it probably won't take near as long as I thought.

On the work front, I finally did something for myself today and left early today. I definitely was feeling the stress in my body and didn't want that to cause any troubles. A couple of hours vegging on the couch and I feel better already :)

24 week bump

Let the painting begin

Day 1 of painting began today. I ended up with paint on the carpet (thankfully we were able to get it off), paint on Mulder's paw (still working on getting that off) and paint on parts of the wall that weren't supposed to be painted! :) Oh well, that's what touch up paint is for!

I was excited to get started! Karen and Kathy came over to help me. Eric was happy and thankful that they came to help so he could avoid all the "fun"!

We started by painting the wall the crib will be on pink. It's the wall on the right when you walk in the room. It's very pink! But I think we all agreed that it looked good. 4 walls of that color, however, would have been too much. Mom, you will be happy to know that Karen did all of the ladder work for that wall. I just painted along the trim on the bottom.

Kathy was kind enough to trace all of the circles on the other 3 walls (poor Kathy) and we started painting them. There are a LOT of circles! We definitely realized that this is going to be a multiple day project, but we got a good start. It takes patience to paint these circles. The picture on the left is a glimpse of what it is looking like. I'm really excited with the result so far.

I had to include this last picture too - Eric came by to help us clean up and Kathy snapped this photo of him. Look at the smirk! I think he is thinking, "ha! So glad I managed to get out of this one!"

I woke up with Miss Piggy's feet!

Sigh - the latest pregnancy side effect started this weekend - CANKLES! My feet and ankles are all swollen. Man, just when I think I can't get any more uncomfortable! I've upped my water intake again and I'm trying to make sure I get up from my desk every couple of hours to walk around. Our busy time is starting, so I'm going to have to make sure I continue to take care of myself.

I also toured the daycare center near my work today. It is definitely a 5 star center. Of course, it comes with a 5 star price... decisions, decisions!

Nursery colors

We (I use that term loosely) picked out the nursery colors. I found a sheet and blanket that I like so we're going to build the nursery around it. We bought some paint today in each of the colors:
  • Pink punch (light pink)
  • Silk ribbon (dark pink)
  • Garden spot (light green)
  • Warm brownie (chocolate brown)

The plan right now is to do a wall or two in the dark pink and then to duplicate the circles on the other walls. I can't wait to get started!

It's a girl!!

Today was the ultrasound and we found out that we are having a girl! And just one! The technician got 2 good shots that told her it was a girl. Her heart was beating at 152 beats per minute and they estimate she is 1 lb right now. The estimated due date was right on based on the measurements - so November 10 is still looking pretty accurate.

It was really surreal to sit and watch her up on the screen, especially when she would move around. I couldn't believe all that was going on inside my belly! The technician pointed out her head, hands, feet, heart, kidneys, spine... I think we got to see it all. The pictures above are a side profile view of her head and I think her hand was up there too. Everything looked good.

I, however, had another fainting episode lying on the table. This one was likely brought on because I was laying on my back and the blood flow was getting cut off. It didn't last long because once I finally told the technician I wasn't feeling well she told me to roll over to my side. I felt better pretty quickly. She assured me that these symptoms are (unfortunately) very common.

This brings the "spell" total up to 3. I had 1 last night too. I was sitting on the couch a couple of hours after dinner, so I don't think it was low blood sugar. However, after talking to the nurse, it was probably due to having my feet up - which also cut off some of the blood flow. Apparently these spells are my body's way of telling me to switch positions, eat more, or take it easy. How nice of my body to communicate so well!
