On Tuesday nights, Eric goes to happy hour with some friends so I get to have some quality time with Kaitlyn. I love Tuesday nights.
On Tuesday nights, I pick up Kaitlyn from my mom and dad's house and get to experience her new routine. When I arrive, she sees me and proceeds to run to the back of the house. You have to run after her, of course. You are rewarded when she turns and runs back to your open arms with a huge smile on her face. I love Tuesday nights.
On Tuesday nights, we play together and with Snoopy. Kaitlyn runs from toy to toy, as though she has missed them. Flipping the pages in books, listening to music, playing with puzzles. Tonight she giggled so hard when Snoopy was running around as fast as he could in circles. I wanted to tell him to stop and calm down, but her giggles were infectious and took my breath away. I love Tuesday nights.
On Tuesday nights, I give Kaitlyn a bath. Lately she has really gotten into the bath routine. She waits patiently while I fill the water and helps me take her clothes off. Once in the water she likes to splash and play. My cue to get to work and start washing her is when she stands and tries to get out of the water. But then she lets me finish my job and lays down so well so I can rinse her hair. The best part is pulling her out to dry her off. She is so cuddly in that moment. My little frog baby. I love Tuesday nights.
On Tuesday nights, we watch Wheel of Fortune. She loves that show. She is mesmerized by the letters, the sounds, the clapping - it is really the TV show she pays attention to the most. I love Tuesday nights.
On Tuesday nights, I ask Kaitlyn "Are you ready for night, night?" She turns and goes to the gate so we can go upstairs. She coos a little, slightly unhappy, as though to tell me, "OK, but I'll miss you." I love Tuesday nights.
On Tuesday nights, I put her in her crib and kiss her goodnight and shut the door. I leave to go downstairs and relax, feeling a little melancholy. I watch her in the monitor and am continually amazed at her ability to put herself to sleep. Sometimes it takes awhile, but she lays and plays with her dog that plays music. She cuddles with her blanket and whatever random toy she was holding when she went to bed (tonight it was a timer!). I love Tuesday nights.
And I LOVE this post! Sweet mommy/daughter time!
