Kaitlyn has been learning to walk up and down the stairs like a "big girl". She has always been really cautious and crawled up and scooted down. But now she has been practicing all by herself. I watched her do 3 stairs each way without holding on. Where did my little girl go?

Fun in the backyard
Kaitlyn and I played out in the backyard one night after work. She has been jumping around on everything. And she has been very intrigued by the dogs behind us. In one of these pictures she is peering through the slats to see them. And the little ponytail never gets old, does it?

Ice cream is yummy
We tried to get Kaitlyn to eat ice cream on Sunday. We tried giving it to her on a spoon but she freaked out in the middle and kind of gagged a bit. So we didn't push it. But then she grabbed the cone from my hand. In the first picture it looks like she's trying to touch it to her nose. She didn't touch it then but she did touch it to her cheek. She was really intrigued by the cone. By the end I had to pry it from her hands so I could eat some. It was a good introduction to ice cream. (Although I'm sure dad wishes he could keep it all to himself.)

Eating Out
We typically only bring Kaitlyn to restaurants where she can run around. We decided to brave it and bring her to McAllisters on Sunday. It was a success! Who wants to join us next week?

Fun During Our Week Off
Uncle Scott and Russell came to visit this week. So Kaitlyn had fun hanging out with them. Here she was clowning around at Grandma and Grandpa's house.
She really likes playing with George and Izzy. Here she is playing with George's collar. They are so patient with her!
And here she is giving Izzy some love by playing with her tail.
Here she is another day hanging out in our backyard. The first part of the week was pretty cold. This day I knew she just had to get out of the house!
She has recently started to enjoy her old swing again. She sits down all by herself in the swing and I'll push her (sometimes with my foot). She just giggles and giggles!
And here she is being silly with her daddy!
Fun at the Park
Today after Kaitlyn's nap we went to the park. She had a really good time running around. For the first time I felt like I could relax and just let her play. I wasn't worried about her getting into too much trouble! Look at what she carried around all afternoon... an onion ring!
These men were coaching this poor kid. I thought he was a bit young to be couched so hard, but Kaitlyn sure enjoyed watching them play.
An action shot!
She wanted to swing for a long time today! Her therapist encourages swinging for her sensory issues. She had a blast!
Sleep Study Results
Last week we got back the results from the sleep study. During the study, Kaitlyn had 2 apneas. However, the doctor didn't seem too concerned about that. Her lowest oxygen saturation was 95% and her average saturation was 98%. So that was good. What concerned him was the fact that her total arousal index was 21.0 per hour. That means she woke up an average of every 3 minutes! .4 per hour is due to the apneas, but 20.6 was called "spontaneous."
He indicated that a common reason people wake up that often is due to GERD. So he suggested we treat it as such for a couple of months and see if we have any improvement. He prescribed prevacid.
Kaitlyn had reflux as an infant and it was treated, but once she started on solid food the pediatrician felt that it had resolved. Recently, many of the doctors/therapists we have seen have asked about reflux. They wonder if that is the reason she doesn't eat solids. Hmmm?
