Another Fun Weekend
I turned around yesterday and Hailey was getting in the cabinet. Before telling her no, I quickly ran to get the camera.
I got Kaitlyn these slippers for Christmas and I thought they would be a hit. In fact I worried that she would never take them off. Well she put them on for the first time yesterday. They looked pretty cute on her!
Look at her eating eggs at a restaurant. She did really good with the fork. Ate them all! Well, I suppose some ended up the floor...
Is it wrong to laugh at your child?? Even if she looks like this?!?! I'm not even sure what happened. I guess she put her hands in her hair and they must have been a little greasy.
And look at this? A self portrait. And I have no idea what is going on with her hair... I don't think it looked that bad. Maybe the close up effect??
Fun Times and a Haircut
We took Kaitlyn to get a haircut this weekend. She had another knot in her hair that had gotten pretty bad. We knew we were off to a good start when Kaitlyn was willing to share her Hello Kitty ears with Hailey.
A Stomach Bug
Kaitlyn got a stomach bug this week. Last Sunday she ahd a few trips to the potty at 6pm and 8pm that were a little loose. I went to bed that night expecting a visitor. Sure enough she came to visit around midnight. She had diarrea. Poor kiddo had an accident. Needless to say it was a rough night. She got a up 3 times total.
Eric stayed home with her on Monday but she was really back to normal. Had a quiet day recooperating and took it easy on food. She's a trooper. Happy to say, no one else in the family got it!
Wake Up, Big Sis!
Kaitlyn was on Spring Break this week so that meant that she went to Rainbow Station with Hailey each morning. I usually let the girls sleep until the first one woke up on their own. Then I would get the other one up. This day Hailey was the first to wake up so we went in to wake up Kaitlyn. Kinda cute!

Weekend Fun
This pic was taken by our phone where it is showing on the screen what the picture looks like. Kaitlyn wanted to be sure Hello Kitty got in the picture.
While Hailey napped today, Kaitlyn and I went to the mall. She got a bit antsy while I was trying on clothes in Macy's and asked if she could put the shirt on (it was a dress). I figured, why not... She enjoyed being a goofball.
First Dentist Trip
This week I took both of the girls to the dentist. I procrastinated making this appointment for Kaitlyn. For a long time, I didn't think she would let anyone look in her mouth. And the longer I waited, the harder it got to pick up the phone. But I finally made the appointment and decided to take Hailey along. I thought maybe if Hailey did it, Kaitlyn would be fine with it too.
The appointment was at 1:30, which right away started a little odd. It was naptime. Neither of the girls were sleeping. Hailey looked like she had only been up for a little bit but I'm not sure what Kaitlyn's deal was. When we arrived, it was like we walked into a toy store! There were 2 waiting areas that had a ton of toys, balloons, a popcorn machine (?!?!), so the girls made themselves at home right away. When we went back with the hygenist, I told them that I just wanted to take it slow with Kaitlyn. To let her set the pace. It was definitely a slow pace. The hygenist started by showing her some tools (mirror, water sprayer, suction) but Kaitlyn was really more interested in all of the toys they had back in that area. It was really quite overwhelming to even me! She had no interest in sitting in the chair or in letting them look in her mouth.
Hailey on the other hand, did pretty well. They did some cleaning before she got upset. But they pushed through and got a complete exam in. Not bad. I was surprised to see how many teeth she had in there. A few more have come in!
The dentist asked about Kaitlyn and how well we were able to brush her teeth. I told them that we didn't brush her teeth - that we couldn't even brush her hair. At that point, I guess the dentist pounced on me. She emphasized that brushing is not negotiable. That bacteria in your mouth can be harmful and needs to be cleaned. At that point the tears began, but she kept going. Perhaps she could tell that we pick our battles and that brushing is not a battle we choose to fight. Her point was, we defintely need to fight that battle.
So we scheduled a follow up private appointment with the dentist so she could do an exam and hopefully a cleaning. It will be in a room by herself with a tv above the chair. I ordered videos of Caillou and Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood. Ugh. On the bright side, she let me do some teeth brushing yesterday. Not a ton, but it definitely felt like a minor victory.
Here are some pictures from the day
Zoo Fun
Last weekend we went to the zoo. It wasn't sunny out but the temperature was pleasant. We went first thing in the morning and just stayed for a few hours. It was perfect! We got a season pass so we will need to go a few more times before it gets too hot. Kaitlyn loved indentifying the various animals and really loved the fish. It was hard to pry her away!
