I had an "episode" at HEB yesterday. I headed there after work to do our weekly shopping. It was like 104 degrees outside - super hot! When I got inside, I noticed I was a little short of breath. But I didn't feel like taking the time to sit down and rest. So I pushed through. Then I started to feel some tightness in my stomach. By the time I made it to the meat department to look at the sausage, I wasn't doing well. I was a little dizzy and light headed and knew at that point I needed to sit down. So I made my way to the restroom and abandoned my cart. At this point I was nauseous and was kinda seeing stars. I was drenched in sweat. I didn't know if I would make it to the restroom and almost stopped a worker for help. But I made it to the restroom and sat down.
I called Eric to come and get me but he was still at work. And since it was rush hour, it would have taken him awhile to get to me. So he had his mom come and pick me up. While I waited I had some water and sat down. I was already feeling better.
I decided to stay home from work today to rest and make sure I was OK. I'm definitely feeling better. I decided to go ahead and call my doctor to make sure the "episode" was nothing to be concerned about. I spoke with her nurse. She assured me that this was common and likely due to dehydration and low blood sugar. She reminded me to eat snacks and keep water with me at all times. (Since it was 5pm yesterday, all I had eaten since lunch was some M&M's. Oops - not the protein and carbs the nurse recommended! ) She also said that the tightness in my stomach was a braxton hicks contraction! Yikes! Although she said not to be alarmed unless they happen more frequently. Since I only had one, she was not too worried.
I still have my ultrasound on Thursday, but I will not be able to see my doctor. She's out so I will be seeing a nurse practitioner. Anything to avoid postponing my ultrasound! They suspense is killing me!

First comment from a stranger
So for the first time I had a stranger ask me, "when are you due?" It was one of the flight attendants coming back from Chicago. I guess that means I'm officially in the obviously pregnant stage.

Another flight
I'm off on another trip this weekend (for a funeral in Chicago). I can't believe I'm traveling again! I thought I was done!
Last night I was pleased to sleep through the night. I didn't wake up once to go the bathroom or because my hands were asleep. Yippee! However, when I did wake up my hands were asleep. But at least I got some good shut eye in!
1 week until the ultrasound! I can't wait to find out the sex of the baby. It will nice to begin to definitively call "it" a he or she. We started looking around a little bit at baby furniture and I started to do some research online. I've been looking at the room decor online and I'm finding more options for boys that I like.
Here's a few:

Sleep issues already?
It's been a long time since I've slept through the night. Every night I wake up at least once to go to the bathroom. But in the past week, I've been waking multiple times because my hands are asleep. At first I thought this was a result of me sleeping on my side. But after asking and reading around, I found out that this is a side effect!
I'm going pillow shopping at lunch because I've received some tips from friends who have recommended the boppy maternity pillow to help alleviate this. It's good to know I'm not the only one who has this problem.
On an unrelated note, I went to a baby shower this weekend for Marina. We played a game in which we had to smell diapers to figure out what food related items were in them. My ability to identify smells was so off! Some of the funnier ones:

- I smelled Reese's Peanut Butter cups when it was just peanut butter,
- I smelled marshmallow when it was vanilla,
- I smelled pickles when it was mustard.
Hmmm... has my smell always been so off?

18 week baby bump
OK - for those of you that have requested pictures of the bump, here it is. But brace yourself... it's pretty big already (39 inches)! If you have seen me lately, you're probably surprised to see how big the bump actually is. I think that most of the clothes I have been wearing hide the bump. That picture freaks me out, actually.
I still will not be surprised if they find 2 in there when we go for the ultrasound next month!
Pregnant women can have fun in Vegas too!
We're back from Vegas! We had a blast! It was the perfect place to go for our last vacation for a long time... I surprised myself by being able to keep up with everyone! It was a great "last hoorah."

This is Las Vegas, baby!
We're off today for 3 nights in Las Vegas. The baby's first introduction to the city. It is our last pre-baby vacation. Sigh...

Wshew! Normal!!
My doctor's office just called to let me know that the quad screening results came back normal! This screening looked for abnormalities that might indicate a potential genetic disorder, such as Down Syndrome or Spina Bifida.
I wasn't sure whether or not I wanted to do the screening test. What would I have done if the tests indicated an issue?
Well, thankfully I don't have to worry about that!
