I had an "episode" at HEB yesterday. I headed there after work to do our weekly shopping. It was like 104 degrees outside - super hot! When I got inside, I noticed I was a little short of breath. But I didn't feel like taking the time to sit down and rest. So I pushed through. Then I started to feel some tightness in my stomach. By the time I made it to the meat department to look at the sausage, I wasn't doing well. I was a little dizzy and light headed and knew at that point I needed to sit down. So I made my way to the restroom and abandoned my cart. At this point I was nauseous and was kinda seeing stars. I was drenched in sweat. I didn't know if I would make it to the restroom and almost stopped a worker for help. But I made it to the restroom and sat down.
I called Eric to come and get me but he was still at work. And since it was rush hour, it would have taken him awhile to get to me. So he had his mom come and pick me up. While I waited I had some water and sat down. I was already feeling better.
I decided to stay home from work today to rest and make sure I was OK. I'm definitely feeling better. I decided to go ahead and call my doctor to make sure the "episode" was nothing to be concerned about. I spoke with her nurse. She assured me that this was common and likely due to dehydration and low blood sugar. She reminded me to eat snacks and keep water with me at all times. (Since it was 5pm yesterday, all I had eaten since lunch was some M&M's. Oops - not the protein and carbs the nurse recommended! ) She also said that the tightness in my stomach was a braxton hicks contraction! Yikes! Although she said not to be alarmed unless they happen more frequently. Since I only had one, she was not too worried.
I still have my ultrasound on Thursday, but I will not be able to see my doctor. She's out so I will be seeing a nurse practitioner. Anything to avoid postponing my ultrasound! They suspense is killing me!
