Last week we had an appointment at the Autism Community Network for a screening meant to help differentiate children at risk for Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) from those at risk for other developmental disorders. There is not a lot to report - we left with a result that states: "Child is at risk for ASD. A formal autism evaluation is recommended." There is a 5 month wait list for formal evals!
We are not really that surprised with the outcome. Based on the questionnaires, we knew that she was exhibiting enough things that would raise their eyebrows. The evaluators recommended signing her up for at least some daycare so she can be around other kids. In addition, they recommended we start behavioral therapy. Both of those items were already on our radar.
