First Swim of the Year

Last weekend we went to Karen and Brentton's for a Memorial Day pool party. Mike and Jenny were in town. Kaitlyn had a great time in the pool. She accidentally dunked herself twice but didn't get upset. She tired mommy and daddy out because she loved to be pulled around the pool.

Riding the Tricycle

Kaitlyn has recently started riding her tricycle the right way. Previously she would only sit on it "side saddle." So this weekend we went around the block. Kaitlyn loved it.

Rough Week

It's been a tough week at the Aitken house. We have all been in some stage of illness. Kaitlyn has an ear infection. But still manages to look cute. Here she is chilling one night on her lion pillow.

Grandma MiMi

Eric's mom passed away on Saturday, May 12.  We are going to miss her tremendously.  It is so sad that Kaitlyn will miss out on growing up with Grandma Mimi in her life.  And even more devastating that baby #2 will never meet her.  Edie, you were a wonderful mom, mother-in-law, grandma and friend.  The world won't be the same without you!

The Zoo

On Friday, May 11, I took the day off and went to the zoo with Kaitlyn. Man, did she have a good time!  I think this is the perfect age for her to start enjoying the zoo.  I started off with her in her stroller and we looked at a few exhibits.  She was really interested in looking at the animals.  Then we headed to the toddler area and I let her get outso she could run around.  We spent a lot of time looking at the aquarium fish.  Kaitlyn kept yelling "FISH!"  So cute!  She explored around and enjoyed checking things out.  We had most of that area to ourselves.

We headed back to that aquarium and were joined by a"mommy and me" type tour.  The tour guide had a boombox which Kaitlyn was immediately was drawn to.  The guide turned on the music and started singing.  Kaitlyn jumped right in and started dancing.  It was the cutest thing!  Everyone was laughing along with her.  Luckily, I caught it on video:

After that,Kaitlyn was a bit tired so she went back in her stroller and we headed to the train.  We rode the train and she really seemed to enjoy it.  Atone point the train was going pretty slow and she seemed to get bored/antsy but overall had fun and enjoyed herself.

What a great day!
